Getting to Know You
House Advisors have two meetings in Year 1 with their assigned MS1 students. The main focus is to get to know one another. MS1s will be asked about their backgrounds, goals, and interests. Students are given an overview of what is ahead, as well as the wide variety of resources that are available. The Medical Specialty Preference Inventory (MSPI) will be taken by the student and reviewed with their House Advisor.
During the second meeting, we will discuss the student's progress, as well as the inherent qualities they possess to help guide career choices, and student wellness. Options and plans are discussed for summer extracurricular experiences in the Personalized Active Learning (PAL) block. The Physician Values in Practice Scale (PVIPS) will be taken by the student and reviewed with their House Advisor.
